Ms. Lavenia Cochran Brown, affectionally known as “Teen” age 94 of Sandersville, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Washington County Extended Care Facility. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, January 24th at 1:00 p.m. in Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Hwy. 24 West in Sandersville.
Ms. Brown was born and reared in Oconee, the daughter of the late Jerry Eugene Cochran and the late Annie Mae Brantley Cochran. She married her late husband Thomas Oliver Brown at the age of 16 and soon began a 50 plus year career in the textile industry with J.P. Steven prior to Forstmann. She was a longtime member of Olive Hill Baptist Church, and one of her favorite pastimes was going to Brown's Barn or Herb's Fish Place every Saturday night. Ms. Brown was an avid collector of Roosters and any Rooster memorabilia, and her favorite color was bright red. In addition to her parents and husband, Ms. Brown is also predeceased by one son Thomas Eugene "Gene" Brown and her sister Eugenia C. Tanner.
Survivors are her son Ted Brown (Pam) of Rhode Island; her daughter-in-law Claudette B. Brown Andrews (Windell) of Sandersville; grandchildren, Paula B. Maxwell (Jason) of Bonaire, Lindsey Brown and Megan Thomas both of Rhode Island; step- grandchildren, Keith Andrews (Tina) and Michele Durden (Chris) all of Sandersville; great grandchildren, Caroline Maxwell, Jake Maxwell, Ryan Maxwell, Hannah Maxwell, Michelle Canada, Wyatt Thomas, Eli Charron, Kristin Durden and Dylan Andrews; great-great grandchildren, Bayler Rush and Blakely Rush; a special niece and her husband, Bobbie and Randy Helton; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Donations may be made to the Olive Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to the Rutherford Cemetery Fund.
