Mrs. Laverne Veal Amerson, age 97, of Tennille, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Heritage Inn following an extended illness. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, January 19th at 3:00 p.m. at Tennille Baptist Church, with burial in Zeta Cemetery. Reverend Mark Jones and Reverend Jerry Pickard will officiate. Pallbearers will be Alan Amerson, Dustin Lawrence, Shane Emmett, Daniel Crosby, Frank Raley and Billy Don Mullis. Mrs. Amerson's family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Mrs. Amerson was born in Sandersville and reared in Deepstep and Tennille, where she attended school. She married her husband, Joe Harris Amerson, Jr. early in life and became a homemaker. She formerly worked for Washington Manufacturing Company and later in life became a care giver to many of her family and friends. Mrs. Amerson enjoyed volunteering with the Axillary, at Washington County Regional Medical Center. She was an excellent cook and known for her coconut pies. Her husband, her son Howard Alan Amerson Sr. and her parents, Clyde Wesley Veal and Bessie Bernice Renfroe Lariscey, all predecease her.
Survivors are her grandchildren, Melissa Amerson Emmett and her husband Shane of Rincon, Michelle Amerson of Davisboro and Howard Alan Amerson Jr. and his wife Hilary of Tennille; her daughter-in-law Harriett Amerson of Tennille; Great Grandchildren, Dustin Lawrence and his wife Amber, Rachel Falk, Lauren Crosby and her husband Daniel, Alissa Amerson and Palmer Amerson; and Great-Great Grandchildren, Lane Falk and Kinley Crosby.
