Mrs. Lavin Johnson Mason, age 63, of Harrison, died Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Medical College of Georgia following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 24th at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Bay Springs Cemetery in Oconee. Rev. Emory Anderson and Rev. Jimbo Dominey will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Snider, Bud Hines, Eric Johnson, Mike Powell, Jim Kitchens and Stacey Kitchens.
Mrs. Mason was born in Washington County the daughter of the late William Johnson and the late Bessie Irene Johnston Johnson. She worked for Self Storage Secure in Sandersville and was an active member of the Oconee Church of God where she sang in the church choir. She was the founder of the local Red Hat Society where she served as chapter queen. Lavin’s hobbies included singing, cooking, painting and wood carving.
Survivors are her husband Donnie Mason of Harrison, children, Sandra Stobie (Tim) of Sandusky OH., Tammy Quinn (Michael) and Gary E. Brown Jr., all of Harrison, Donna Mason of McDonough, and Matti Raeann Jamison of Harrison, grandchildren, Timothy C. Yates (Stephanie), Marlena Lavin Hines and Tyler G. Wilson, Christa Stobie, Daniel Stobie, Kelly Stobie, and her brother Wyncell Johnson of Sandersville.
The family will be at the Mason residence on King Rd. in Harrison and will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
