Leah Nicole "Waller" Miller
On the morning of August 24, 2015 Leah passed away at Waccamaw Community Hospital after a 6 year battle with breast cancer. Leah spent her last moments on this earth surrounded by her family and friends singing and worshiping her Lord and Savior. She was 41 years old.
Leah was born on August 6, 1974 in Knoxville, TN to Kay Rhodes. Leah grew up in Georgia, where her incredible talent for art was discovered at a young age. She graduated from Wilkinson Co High School in 1992. She pursued her passion for art at Coastal Carolina University in 2004 where she graduated with a degree in Art Studio and Graphic Design. In 1998, Leah met the love of her life, Rod Miller, and married on March 13, 1999.
Leah Miller is survived by her husband of 16 years, Rod, children Sienna 12, Jade 8, Ebon 6, and mother Kay Rhodes. She is also survived by her "adopted" parents, Chad and Malinda Waller, and siblings, Miriam Holtzclaw, Anna Kathryn Hodges, Josiah Waller, Victoria Palmer, and Jordan Waller.
Love is what binds a family together. Some families are born to us and some are chosen. At age 13, Leah met Chad Waller in her high school color guard and immediately found the father she never had. Through Chad, she also gained another mother, four sisters, and one brother.
Leah was a vibrant and vivacious individual who expressed herself through so many different facets. She was an accomplished artist and an insanely creative woman. Her quick wit and contagious laughter made her the life the party. She was so much more than her disease. She never let a diagnosis define her. She leaves behind a legacy that we should all aspire to in a foundation she'd established to lend help to fellow cancer patients. Leah's relentless strength stemmed from her faith in the Lord. She chose to live beyond the pain and make lasting memories with her husband and children. She was truly a gift from God and will be missed by so many.
