Mrs. Leatha Stewart Parker, age 95, of Sandersville, formerly of Columbus, passed away, Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Sandersville following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 30th at 2:00 p.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m prior to the service. A committal service will be held on Monday, May 3rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus. Family will greet friends from 12:30-1 p.m. before the service begins. Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate.
Mrs. Parker was born in Lanett, Alabama. She reared her family in Columbus while her late husband, William T. Parker spent his career serving in the US Military. Between her duties caring for family and being a homemaker, Mrs. Parker worked for Toms Food. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church of Columbus and moved to Sandersville in 2013 to be near family. She loved sewing and reading but above all she cherished caring for her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Parker is predeceased by her mother, Alice Corinne Stewart, her son, Ronald C. Parker and her grandson, Chance Parker.
Survivors are her children, Sandra Parker Brantley and her husband Lynn of Harrison, Rick L. Parker and his wife Kathy of Bethlehem and Edwin M. Parker and his wife Dee of Cartersville; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and her sister Ruth Davis of Phenix City, AL.
Donations in Mrs. Parker's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
