Leo Wheeler

Mr. Leo Wheeler, age 80, of Sparta entered into heavenly rest on Saturday August 17, 2019 in a Macon hospital following a brief illness. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday August 22 at Archer Grove Baptist Church in Hancock County with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Wheeler was the son of the late Guy M. Wheeler, Sr. and the late Ethel Hunt Wheeler.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Ruth Lamar and a brother, Guy M. Wheeler, Jr.  Mr. Wheeler had lived in Sparta for many years and was a retired construction foreman at Central State Hospital and was the owner of Wheeler Construction Company.  He was a member of the Archer Grove Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Betty Jean Worthen Wheeler of Sparta, two sons, Leo Fitzgerald Wheeler, Sr. and his wife Polly of Sparta and Wade Thomas of Mayfield, a daughter, Bridget Althea Wheeler Freeman and her husband Calvin of Sparta, three sisters, Emma Lee Wheeler, Rosa Wheeler Crayton and Rowena Wheeler Thomas all of Sparta,  grandchildren, Tina Wheeler, Leo Fitzgerald Wheeler, Jr., Orlando Wheeler, Aaron J. Wheeler, Tasha Thomas, Jeanea Thomas, Alea Thomas and Alendra Thomas, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will have a visitation time at Warren Brothers Funeral Home in Sparta on Wednesday August 21` from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M.
