Mrs. Lillie Y. McDonald, age 93, of 1180 Highway 102 Warthen, died Friday, September 17 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September, 20 in the Mineral Springs Baptist Church near Hamburg. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. J. W. “Bill” Seaman and Mr. Carl McDonald will officiate. Pallbearers will be Chad McDonald, Curtis McDonald, William Horton, Kevin Witthar, Dwayne McDonald, and L. H. Carter.
Mrs. McDonald was a native of Hancock County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Ben Hill Yarbrough and the late Merle Johnson Yarbrough. She became a resident of Washington County in 1974. She was a life long member of the Mineral Springs Baptist Church where she served as Church Treasurer for 20 years. Mrs. McDonald was predeceased by her husband Calvin Lee McDonald and sons, Bobby McDonald and Charles McDonald.
Survivors include a son, Jerry McDonald and wife Brenda of Warthen, a daughter-in-law, Brenda S. McDonald of Tennille, grandchildren; Carl McDonald of Sandersville, Charlotte Witthar of Charlotte, NC, Curtis McDonald of Gibsonia, PA, Cheryl Horton of Davisboro, and Chad McDonald of Warthen, and eight great grandchildren.
The family will be at the Lillie McDonald residence and visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00 – 5:00PM at the May & Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
