Mrs. Lilymae Capehart, age 86, of Harrison Street, Sandersville, passed away at her residence on Sunday, May 3, 2026. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., in the Culverton Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Tim Hiers officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the cemetery.
Mrs. Capehart was born in Culverton, the daughter of the late Warren Bo Clark and the late Enda C. Clark. She began her working career as a seamstress with JP Stephens, she was a nurse, hotel manager, and even worked with General Dynamics Teldyne Ryan bulding ballstic missles for the U.S. Submarine fleet. Mrs. Capehart was a well-rounded lady, who grew champion tomatoes, but who also played AA softball barefoot, coached Junior College level fast pitch softball, and bowled a 200 on average games. She was an exceptional mother to her two sons, traveling with multiple championship little league teams. Mrs. Capehart was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and a member of Culverton Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Wallace "Wally" Capehart; and siblings, Ruthie Sheley, Benny Clark, Kay Clark, Ed Clark, Willie Clark, and Barbara Goldman.
Mrs. Capehart is survived by her son, Dale Clark Capehart of Sandersville; sister, Joanne Harned (Ben) also of Sandersville, and Jerry Clark of Sparta; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
