Linda S Query

May 9, 1945 — July 13, 2017

Mrs. Linda Smith Query, of Tennille, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 16 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Sandersville with burial in New Family Cemetery near Harrison. Reverend Lee Lacey and Reverend Rick Freeman will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Keith Blount, Joby Blount, Kevin Smith, Darrell Page, Donnie Abbott, Bill Smith and Roger Gumby.

Linda was a member worshiping at First Baptist Church of Sandersville, the Cornerstone Sunday School Class and sang soprano in the Pure Praise Choir.  She was serving as Treasurer of the Fall Line Artist Guild from 2010 until 2015, President of the Sorosis Club in 2014 and 2015, President of Town and Country Garden Club 2015 and 2016 and she enjoyed playing bunko with a group of friends. Her love of travel took her too many foreign countries and the states. She enjoyed bird watching, often photographing and painting them.  Throughout her life she had a love for animals especially cats, rescuing them and finding homes for them, sometimes keeping some. There were always cats and dogs in her home. Linda began her career with the United States Postal Service in 1985 in Decatur and retired as a sales specialist in Memphis, Tennessee in 2005.  Linda worked with Southern Bell and the Georgia Department of Transportation District Office in Tennille.  She transferred to Atlanta with the Department of Transportation and also worked for the Hobart Corporation. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Query and parents, Joseph Clyde and Eleen Smith.

Survivors are: siblings, Joseph Smith of North, SC, Elizabeth Page and her husband Dean of Decatur, Benny Smith of Warner Robins and Faye Smith Blount of Harrison; two grandchildren, Justin Allen and Jessica Allen of Atlanta; sister in law, Rebecca Walters and her husband John of Ellenton FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her faithful dog Buddy.

The family suggest donations be made to First Baptist Church of Sandersville, 316 Mathis Circle, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday.

May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
