Mrs. Linda Sanders Walters, age 77, of Ridgeland Drive in Sandersville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, December 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Sisters Baptist Church in Sandersville, with Reverend Kevin Carter officiating. Mrs. Walters’ family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home.
Linda was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late John Sanders and the late Lucy Pounds Sanders. She graduated from Washington County High School in 1965 and married the love of her life Mack Walters. Linda began her working career at Washington Manufacturing Company, remaining there as a purchasing agent through the duration of the business. She later transitioned to Meeks Tractor Company where she retired in inventory management. Linda was a longtime member of Sisters Baptist Church where she participated in the Church WMU. She was an avid reader and loved to bake. In retirement she and Mack loved to travel near and far on their motorcycle. One of her last trips was across country on their Trike, along with friends, to dip her toes in the Pacific Ocean. Linda cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always careful to treat each one equally. Her presence will be truly missed by family and friends.
Survivors are her husband of 60 years, Mack Walters; her daughter, Karen "Kay" W. VonHoven and her husband Chad of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Kathryn B. Rainey of Braselton, Kasie B. Tanner and her husband Benjamin of Eatonton and Ryan VonHoven of Alpharetta; great grandchildren, Landon Rainey, Jeffrey Rainey, Elijah Tanner, Luke Tanner and Thomas Tanner; and siblings, Grady Sanders and his wife Bertha of Sandersville, Marie S. Keyton and her husband Sammy of Wrightsville and John Alan Sanders of Sandersville.
