Mr. Lloyd McDonald, age 88, of Warthen died on Thursday April 23, 2015 in the Heritage Inn of Sandersville following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday April 26 in the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Warthen with burial in the Bethlehem Baptist church Cemetery. Reverend Tim Powell, Reverend Henry McMichael, Reverend Jimmy Harris and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne McDonald, Danny Jones, Sam Sexton, Jeremy Jones, D. J. McDonald, Taylor Sexton, L. H. Carter and Mitch Archer. Honorary pallbearers will be The Gideon's , The Gideon's Auxiliary, and the Deacons of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Mr.. McDonald was a native of Glascock County, Georgia, the son of the late Jeremiah Calvin McDonald and the late Ollie Lee Parish McDonald. He was preceded in death by his step mother, Lillian Yarborough McDonald and his brothers, Johnny McDonald, Lee McDonald, Leonard McDonald, Jim McDonald, his sisters, Sallie McCormick, Bertha Gunnels, Orie Jones, Kay Tapley, Reba Orcutt and Mabel Sizer. Mr. McDonald was a farmer and a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. McDonald joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church in 1941, was a former Sunday school teacher, served as a Deacon of the Bethlehem Baptist Church since 1952 and lead the singing at the church for over fifty years. He joined Gideon's International in 1968.
Survivors are his wife, Blanche Trusssell McDonald of Warthen; two daughters, Loy McDonald Jones and her husband Danny of Warthen, and Lynn McDonald Sexton and her husband Sam of Raleigh, NC; a son Dwayne McDonald and his wife Kathie of Warthen; six grandchildren, D. J. McDonald, Amy McDonald Brown, Jeremy Jones, Laura Jones Gainer, Taylor Sexton and Haley Sexton; ten great grandchildren, Sadie Brown, Zeke Brown, Breck Jones, Aine Jones, Maddie Jones, Nico Gaines, Kaylan Gaines, Jonann Gaines, Sarah Gaines and Luke Gaines; a sister, Ruth McDonald Wille of Colorado; and a brother, Lonnie McDonald and his wife Bertie Mae of Warthen.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 6611 Highway 15 North in Warthen from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday.
The family will also receive friends at the Bethlehem Baptist Church on Sunday the hour prior to funeral services.
