Lois Pool Young

Mrs. Lois Pool Young, age 94, of 956 Montgomery Road in Tennille died Sunday, November 24, 2013, in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 27th, in the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Pool, Nathan Pool, Rock Tanner, Dave Hammock, David Young and Jacob Pool. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Price, Gary Pool, Harvey Pool, Tommy Pool, Charles Young, Russell Young, Emory Young, William Young and Gene Renfroe.

Mrs. Young was a native of Johnson County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Harvey Pool and the late Carrie Frost Pool. She was the wife of the late Harold W. Young. Mrs. Young was a graduate of the Georgia State College for Women and received her Master’s Degree in Education and her six year certificate from the University of Georgia. She taught the fifth grade for the Washington County Public School System and was associated with the Reading Center in Tennille. Mrs. Young was a retired director with the Oconee Regional Educational Services Agency. She worked in education for over 51 years. Mrs. Young was a member of the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa and the Washington County Farm Bureau.

Survivors are her son, Larry H. Young of Tennille; her grandchildren, Jayna Hall and her husband William of Tennille and Seth W. Young and his wife Brooke of Tennille; three great- grandchildren, Maclaine Hall, Liam Hall and Sawyer Hall; a sister, Nell Young of Tennille; and a sister-in-law, Helen Pool of Warner Robins.

The family suggests donations be made to the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund, 154 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Tennille, Georgia 31089.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
