Lowell H Bridges

Reverend Lowell H. Bridges, age 95, of McDaniel Drive, Sandersville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, after an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Kendall Heights Church of God in Sandersville, with burial following in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Bobby Williford will officiate. Reverend Bridges’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 21, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Reverend Bridges was born in Downs Community, the son of the late Toombs Bridges and the late Essie Black Bridges. He was a timber harvester of pulpwood by trade, but his true calling was spreading the message of Jesus Christ as a pastor and an evangelist. In 1961, Reverend Bridges founded the Sandersville Church of God (now the Kendall Heights Church of God) and always did his best to preach the Gospel to anyone who would listen. He loved fishing and even raised his own fishing bait, which he would sell to the public. Reverend Bridges was an outstanding father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always showed his family love and devotion. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Carey Bridges; daughter, Annette Bridges; great-great grandson Tatum Waters; brother, Pierce Bridges; and sister, Elizabeth Bridges Williford. He was a charter member of Sandersville-Kendall Heights Church of God.

Reverend Bridges is survived by his daughters, Betty Jean Bridges Lanthrip, Geraldine Bridges Hodges, both of Sandersville, Linda Sue Bridges Batten and her husband Danny of Tennille, Barabra Ann Bridges Elliot of Davisboro, and Sherry Lynn Bridges Patisaul and her husband Randy of Rentz; 29 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
