Lucille Yates Morris

Mrs. Lucille Yates Morris, age 71, of Tennille, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 14th at 11:00am at the First Church of the Nazarene in Sandersville with burial in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Rev. Jim Dunn, Rev. Lamar Brantley and Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Artie Yates, Junior Yates, Jay Garrett, Travis Yates,Matt Daniel, Colby Yates, Toby Mask and George Wiggins. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Christian Workers Sunday School Class at the First Church of the Nazarene.

Mrs. Morris was born in Washington County the daughter of the late Horace G. Yates and the late Bessie Carey Yates. She worked with Head Start as a preschool teacher and in retirement worked as a Washington County Poll worker. Mrs. Morris was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she was a member of the Christian Workers Sunday School Class and a member of LIFT ladies ministry. She is predeceased by her husband William J. Morris and a grandson William E. Morris.

Survivors are; her children, Marie Utah McNair and Harley Allen Morris both of Tennille, Barbara A. Coleman (Joseph) of Milledgeville and Gloria B. Gee (Ashely) of Guyton, grandchildren Christy D. Gray, Jessica S. Hindley, Roseanna B. Rodriguez, Briana C. McNair, Shelby Tyler Gee, Alexandrea Byrne, Anna Catherine Byrne and Casey Dalton Gee, seven great grandchildren, sisters, Margaret Edenfield of Sandersville and Glenda Anderson of Oconee and brothers Arthur Yates of Davisboro and Wallace Yates of Mt. Aire.

The family will be at the Morris residence 6165 Hwy 15 South, Tennille and will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
