Lucy Pounds Sanders

Mrs. Lucy Pounds Sanders, age 87, of 502 North Main Street in Tennille died Sunday April 3, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday April 6 in the Sisters Baptist Church with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. Burt Parker, Karen Von Hoven and Mr. B. L. Brown will officiate. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Sanders was a native of Hancock County, Georgia , the daughter of the late Jesse Pounds and the late Emma Miller Pounds. She and the late John Sanders were married for over sixty years. She was a retired seamstress for Royal Manufacturing Company and a homemaker. Mrs. Sanders was a member of the Sisters Baptist Church, the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Washington County Senior Citizens.

Survivors are her children, Allowee Sanders Myers of Lavonia, David (Diane) Sanders of Augusta, Grady (Bertha) Sanders of Sandersville, Sarah Sanders Berryman and Linda Sanders (Mack) Walters of Sandersville, Marie Sanders ( Sammy) Keyton of Wrightsville and John Alan Sanders of Tennille, two brothers, O. T. (Sheila ) Pounds and Roy (Runette) Pounds of Milledgeville, a sister, Mildred (Jerry) Moore of Grovetown, a sister- in-law, Myrtle Mullins of Augusta, fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Advantage Hospice and Maggie Thomas for their loving care of Mrs. Sanders.

The family will be at the residence of Marie and Sammy Keyton, 3405 Cross Cedar Road, Wrightsville, Georgia and will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
