Luther Hines

September 12, 1923 — January 16, 2009

Mr. Luther Hines, age 85, of Brush Creek Rd. Sandersville, died Friday, January 16, 2009. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 18th at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Rev. J. Emory Lindsey and Rev. Jim Dunn will officiate. Pallbearers will be members of the Brush Creek Hunting Club.

Mr. Hines was born and raised in Emanuel County the son of the late Percey Hines and the late Missouri Woods Hines. He was a longtime resident of Tampa Florida where he worked as a heavy equipment operator before retiring to Washington County. Mr. Hines was US Army Veteran of WWII serving with the 524th Military Police Battalion in the European Theater. He is predeceased by a sister Ruby Lancaster.

Survivors are his sister Annie Lee Anderson of Sandersville, nephews Rayburn (Sara) Anderson of Tennille, Mercer (Jeanie) Hogan of Dade City FL., and Jay Anderson of Eatonton and several great nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the Anderson residence 741 Royal Lane in Sandersville and will receive friends Saturday from 4 to 6pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
