Lynda Ann Turner

Lynda Ann Colston Turner, of Warthen, Georgia passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the age of 74. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 8, 2017 in the Warthen Family Cemetery. Family will greet friends following the service.

Mrs. Turner was born on October 12, 1942 at the Rawlings Sanitarium to A.L. Colston, Sr. and Lizzie Lee Davis Colston. Mrs. Turner is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Jewell Joshua Turner, Jr. She is survived by her three children Annice Turner Peterman and her husband, Keith, of Greenville, SC; Glynn C. Turner of Warthen; and Lesley Turner Dubin and her husband, Gary, of Sacramento, CA.

Mrs. Turner graduated from Wrightsville High School, where she played clarinet and saxophone in the band, in 1958. She then attended Wesleyan College.

Very philanthropic and civic-minded, Mrs. Turner played organ and piano for many occasions and churches, beginning at Brown Memorial Baptist in Wrightsville at the age of 13. For many years, she played at First Baptist Church of Sandersville and Davisboro United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Turner was active in many organizations including the Community Concert Association, Gov. Jared Irwin Chapter NSDAR, Pilot Club of Washington County, Sandersville Music Club, Washington County Historical Society, and the Warthen Community Club.

In addition to her music and community spirit, Mrs. Turner will be remembered for her hospitality as well as ownership and management of Karol’s of Sandersville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Warthen Family Cemetery Fund, c/o The Geo. D. Warthen Bank at P.O. Box 637, Sandersville, GA 31082.
