Mabel Jones Hodges

Mrs. Mabel Jones Hodges, age 90, of Louisville, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville, with burial to follow in Davisboro City Cemetery. Mr. Bill Smith will officiate, and pallbearers will be Ricky Holt, Steve Rollins, Tre Wheeler and Travis Holt. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hodges was born in Riddleville, the daughter of the late John Montgomery Jones and the late Willie Pearl Dye Jones. She was a graduate of Sandersville High School and spent her working career as a telephone operator, retiring from AT&T. Mrs. Hodges was a faithful member of Louisville First Baptist Church, where she helped for many years with the afterschool program. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmommie and her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lee Hodges, Jr.; and siblings, Mary Andrews, Christine Watts, Johnny Jones, Jr., Harvard Jones, Lamar Jones, Nellie Powell, and Robert Jones.

Mrs. Hodges is survived by her son, Michael Lee Hodges of Atlanta; daughters, Michelle Rollins (Steve) and Monica Holt (Ricky) both of Louisville; grandchildren, Tre Wheeler (Taylor), Morgan Holt, Skylar Holt, Travis Holt, and Daniel Holt; great grandchildren, Trevor Wheeler, Tinley Grace Wheeler, Everly Wheeler, and Rowan Tyler; and sister-in-law, Mary Jones of Sandersville.
