Mrs. Madie Olivia Hartley, age 99, of Tennille, died Saturday, July 28, 2018. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 31 st at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Reverend Brant Kennedy will officiate. Deacons of Bethany Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Hartley was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late John Stephen Lawrence and the late Cindy Scott Lawrence. She formerly worked as a seamstress for Royal Manufacturing and retired from her families business, Hartley's 5 & 10, as a longtime and dedicated sales clerk. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she had the distinction of being the churches oldest member at her death. Her husband, George Bernice Hartley, predeceases her.
Survivors include, her sons, David Hartley and his wife Lu Anne of Tennille and Curry Brown and his wife Marylene of Dallas; grandchildren, Lydia Sallee and her husband Rick of Ohio, Curt Brown and his wife Melinda of Hiram, Kevin Brown and his wife Christina of Croatia, Alethea Busby and her husband Darrell of Johns Creek, Olivia Hartley of Augusta, and Taylor Hartley of Tennille; nine great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren; and her beloved pet, a Dachshund dog named Grace.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bethany Baptist. Donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Church c/o Betty Jones, 2979 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Tennille, GA. 31089.
