Margaret Amerson Jones

Mrs. Margaret Amerson Jones, age 82, of E. McCarty Street in Sandersville, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6th at 4:00pm at the Sisters Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Marlon Lastinger and Rev. Burt Parker will officiate. Pallbearers will be Neil Pittman, Sonny Barkesdale, Emory Roberts, Larry Raley, Earle Trussell, and John Wiles.

Mrs. Jones was born in Hancock County the daughter of the late Vincent Clark Amerson and the late Launa Chapman Amerson. She obtained her bachelor and masters degree in Education from Georgia State College for Women. She was an educator for 40 years teaching for both the Washington County Board of Education and for Brentwood School. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Sisters Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. She was also a former member of the DAR and the Town and Country Garden Club. Mrs. Jones is predeceased by her husband J. Greene Jones.

Survivors are her children Julian C. Jones of Sandersville and Jennifer J. Randall of Gainesville and grandchildren Emily Randall, Laurie Jones and Caroline Jones.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6pm at the Funeral Home.
