Margaret Alice Ivey Brantley, age 89, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on December 17, 1936, in Sandersville, Georgia, the daughter of the late Roger Gamble Ivey Sr. and Clara Grimes Ivey.
Mrs. Brantley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was marked by faith, family, and perseverance. A two-time breast cancer survivor, she faced every challenge with strength, determination, and unwavering trust in the Lord. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Lee Roy Brantley; her daughter, Sharon Kay Brantley; and her siblings, Annette Ivey Alexander, Mildred Ivey Irwin, and Roger Gamble Ivey Jr.
She is survived by her three children: Debbie Brantley Buck (Holt) of Richmond Hill, GA; Karen Brantley Christopher (Jimmy) of Savannah, GA; and Michael Lee Brantley (Penny) of Gordon, GA.
Mrs. Brantley was blessed with six grandchildren: Gail Christopher Hall (Clint) of Savannah, GA; Dustin Lee Buck of Richmond Hill, GA; James Travis Christopher (Ashley) of Savannah, GA; Katherine Lee Cannon (John) of Perry, GA; Brian Holt Buck (Melissa) of Statesboro, GA; and Michael Troy Brantley (Chelsey) of Milledgeville, GA.
She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy: Rachel Makayla Hunt (Riley) of Statesboro, GA; Clinton Blake Hall, Amelia Joy Christopher, and Landon Bryce Christopher, all of Savannah, GA; Ella Gray Cannon, Grace Elizabeth Cannon, and Finn Oliver Cannon of Perry, GA; and Caroline Margaret Buck of Statesboro, GA.
Mrs. Brantley retired from Thiele Kaolin Company in 1995 after 17 years of dedicated service. She was a longtime member of Sister’s Baptist Church in Sandersville, where her faith was the foundation of her life and the legacy she passed on to her family. Following her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling the United States in their motorhome and eventually made Unicoi Springs Camp Resort in Helen, Georgia, their second home.
Margaret will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her honesty, her strength, and her deep devotion to Christ. Though Alzheimer’s slowly dimmed her memory, it never diminished her spirit. Today, she is fully restored, reunited with her loved ones, and at peace in the arms of her Savior.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Sister’s Baptist Church in Sandersville, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Travis Christopher, Brian Buck, Troy Brantley, Clint Hall, John Cannon, Blake Hall, Landon Christopher, and Riley Hunt.
