Margaret Turner Walker

Mrs. Margaret Turner Walker, age 84, of Warthen, died Thursday, September 15, 2016, at her residence following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 17th at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church north of Warthen with burial in the Church Cemetery. Reverend Robert Cash and Reverend Roy Smith will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Ray Moon III, James Moon, Bobby Moon, Lindsey Moon, Seth-Collins Sheley, and Tommy Walker.

Mrs. Walker was a native and lifelong resident of Warthen, the daughter of the late William Wilson Turner and the late Bertie Mills Turner. She began her working career at Royal Manufacturing prior to becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse and working for the Hancock Memorial Hospital, the Washington County Extended Care Facility and with Providence Nursing Home. She was a longtime active member of the Union Baptist Church where she participated in the WMU and where she was a former Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Walker also took a great interest in the Church’s history and cemetery. She was also a member of the Warthen Community Club. Mrs. Walker is predeceased by her husband, Ralph P. Walker, Jr. and siblings, Marvin Tuner, Ruth Turner Hilliard and Billy Turner.

Survivors are; her daughters, Elaine W. Giddens and her husband Bill of Sandersville, Nancy W. Sheley and her husband Kevin of Lake Sinclair, and Bonnie W. Moon and her husband Ray of Warthen; grandchildren, Jessica B. Craft and her husband Matt of Greenville, SC., Leslie Denise Giddens of Sandersville, Candace Elizabeth O’Steen and April Nicole O’Steen both of Brunswick, Seth-Collins Sheley of McRae, Ray Henry Moon III and his wife Jennifer of Milledgeville, James Walker Moon of Kansas City MO., Bobby Christopher Moon and his wife Hayle of Deepstep, Michael Lindsey Moon and his fiancé Brittany of Warthen, and Makayla Amithay-Cora Moon of Savannah; great grandchildren, Mallory Elizabeth Crosby, Liam Alden Craft, Levi Walker Moon, Hudson Palmer Moon, Gemma Elizabeth Moon, Hunter James Moon, Gunner Wilson Moon and Kayson Elizabeth Moon.

The family will receive friends at the Walker residence on Hwy. 15 North of Warthen on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and also on Saturday at the Church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
