Mrs. Hopie Jordan McElreath Lee, age 90, formerly of Tennille and Albany, died Thursday, July 24, 2014 in Seneca, S.C. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 29th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Tennille United Methodist Church with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Vance Mathis will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Lee’s grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Mrs. Lee was born in Jefferson County the daughter of the late William Kilpatrick Jordan and the late Marjorie Elizabeth Holt Jordan. She was a resident of Tennille from 1949 to 1973 where she was active in the Tennille United Methodist Church and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Lee was an avid golfer, often playing with her friend Joann Mayberry at the Twin City Country Club also in Tennille. She continued her love of golf after her move to Albany and shot her third hole-in-one at the age of 75. While a resident of Albany, Mrs. Lee was a member of the Porterfield United Methodist Church and loved collecting dolls. She is predeceased by her husbands, Farris Talmadge McElreath, Jr., MD and William Spencer Lee III Esq., as well as two sisters Susie Turner Jordan and Betty Jordan Smith.
Survivors are her children; Farris Talmadge McElreath III and his wife Eileen of Gainesville, Marjorie M. Bridges and Susan M. Matthews and her husband James all of Seneca, SC., and Deborah M. Williams and her husband Steve of Brunswick; step children, William Spencer Lee, IV and his wife Lacy of Albany, Rebecca L. McCann and her husband John of Manakin Sabot, VA., and David Carl Lee and his wife Carol of Ridgeland, SC.; grandchildren, Farris Talmadge McElreath IV, James Clinton McElreath, Henry Irwin Bridges IV and his wife Kristine, Elizabeth B. Pedrotti and her husband Rod, Paige M. Wolfe and her husband Andrew and Megan M. Hightower and her husband Travis, Zachary Talmadge Williams, Lauren W. Kilgore and her husband Ryan,; seven step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; fifteen Lee great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, William Kilpatrick Jordan Jr. and his wife Jean of White Oak, SC., Eugenia Jordan Chappell of Mt. Pleasant, SC., Paxton Holt Jordan and his wife Faye of Foley, AL., and Andrew Gilbert Jordan and his wife Susan of Cordova, TN.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the funeral service at the church and also following the graveside committal.
