Marjorie Garner Parker

Mrs. Margie Parker, of 517 Lee Street, in Sandersville died Tuesday morning, August 2, 2011,
in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 4th, in the First Baptist Church of Sandersville. Rev. Lee Lacey and Rev. Marlon Lastinger will officiate with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Cliff Sheppard, Carey McCaskill, Wendell Tompkins, Jr., Sonny Barksdale, Bobby Garner, Wright Barksdale, Dean McCaskill and Wendell Tompkins, Sr.

Mrs. Parker was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late John David Garner, Sr. and the late Dovie Cook Garner. She was the wife of the late Roy Lee Parker, Sr. She was a former office manager for Surgical Associates, Dr. Jon Traer and Dr. Mark Harvey. Mrs. Parker was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Joy Sunday School Class and the Friday Night Supper Club. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Washington County Pilot Club.

Survivors are a daughter, Nancy Parker Josey and her husband Eddie of Sandersville, a son, Lee Parker and his wife Cynthia of Sandersville, five grandchildren, Rebecca Brantley, Zack Parker, Leanne Josey, Buck Josey and Chad Kicklighter, four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Brantley, Cathryn Kicklighter, Camryn Kicklighter and Camdyn Dollar, a sister, Eddie Walter of Melbourne, Florida, a brother, Robert Garner and his wife, Dianne of Cochran.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 517 Lee Street, in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening.

The family suggests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Sandersville, 316 Mathis Circle, Sandersville, Georgia 31082 or the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 632, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
