Martha Mae Lewis Ouimette

Mrs. Martha Mae Lewis Ouimette, age 92, of Sparta died Monday, January 6, 2014. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, January the 10th, at 2:00p.m. at the Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hancock County. The Reverend Jerry Bradley will officiate.

Mrs. Ouimette was born in Hancock County the daughter of the late Hugh A. Lewis and the late Sarah Chamberlin Lewis. She spent her working career with Bell South and AT&T mostly as a phone operator. She had been a member of both the Smyrna United Methodist Church and the Sparta Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Ouimette was faithful to her work and loved gardening and crocheting. She is predeceased by her husband James Frederick Ouimette.

Survivors are her children, James F. “Sonny” Ouimett and his wife Bonnie of Tallahassee, FL, Martha M. “Patty” Audet and her husband Louis of Camak, Michael L. Ouimette and his wife Jermaine of Ludlow, MA, and Jocelyn O. Mercogliano of Sparta; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Sara L. Luchessi and her husband Robert of Springfield, MA, Dorothy L. Harrouk and her husband Farouk of Sparta, and Barbara L. Warren of Franklin, NC; and brothers, James M. Lewis and his wife Catherine of Pavo, Hugh A. Lewis and his wife Alma of Macon, Samuel L. Lewis of Sparta and Frederick Gary Lewis and his wife Gertrude of Sparta.

The family will be at the residence of Jocelyn Mercogliano on Hwy 15, Sparta and they will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
