Marvin L. Humphries, 83, passed away December 4, 2022 at Candler Hospital.
The Dooly County native served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a Conductor after 43 years of service where he served on the Safety Committee, and was a member of the U.T.U. He loved storytelling, fishing, 3 card poker, working in his yard, barbecuing, and spending time with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford P. Humphries and Irene Peavy Humphries.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Terry Humphries; children, Mitch Humphries (Denise) of Kathleen, GA, Cindy Minter (Mike Jones) of Macon, GA, and Steve Humphries (Traci) of Sandersville, GA; sister, Mary Roberts of Gray, GA; step-children, Chris Resendez (Kristine), Michelle Henrich (Dean), and Brandi Resendez (Mandy McCary); grandchildren, Bennett Humphries, Collin Humphries; Parker Henrich, Carson Henrich, and Kelsey Jaspers; great-grandchild, Charlotte Jaspers; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; the mother of his children, Shirley Humphries.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel, 2460 Hwy. 21 S., Rincon, GA 31326 followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. in the chapel.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Westview Cemetery, West Thomas Street, Milledgeville, GA.
