Mary Ann Brantley Smith

August 24, 1963 — September 5, 2016

Mary Ann Brantley Smith, age 53, of Lamar’s Creek Road, Sandersville, died Monday, September 05, 2016, at her residence following an extended illness. A celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Davisboro Baptist Church with every one wearing bright clothing honoring her life. Burial will be in the Washington County Memorial Gardens. Reverend Larry Glover and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Travis Brantley, Rick Jackson, Zackiery Smith, Chris Wright, Johnathan Askew and Steven Askew. Mary Ann was born in Washington County. After a brief career as a nurse, she began working in retail auto parts being employed by Riner’s Big A Auto Parts, Avant’s Napa and lastly for Twin City Auto Parts. Mary Ann was also a former employee of Howard Sheppard Inc. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and attended the Davisboro Baptist Church. In the last years of her life, Mary Ann became very involved in mentoring women and being an advocate for women’s health. She along with her husband Jimmy accomplished many physical challenges through cycling, hiking, canoeing and fly fishing together. Mary Ann is predeceased by her father Harold A. Brantley, brother, Larry Brantley and sister Glenda Faye Sellars. Survivors are, her husband Jimmy Smith, of Sandersville; children, Will Smith of Milledgeville and Jenna S. Barefield and her husband Josh of Tennille; one unborn grandchild; her mother, Mary Alice J. Brantley; siblings, Sue B. Garrett and her husband James, Jerry Brantley and his wife Stevanna and Thomas Brantley all of Sandersville. The family will be at the Smith residence on Lamar’s Creek Road and they will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
