Mary Ellen Brookins

Mary Ellen Brookins, age 58, of Sandersville died on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, in a local hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 1 in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Reverend Danny Yates and Reverend Lamar Brantley will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Troy Morris, Trent Morris, Paul Anderson, Patrick Afflerback, David Story, Raymond Garner, Wesley Garner and Mike Hargrove.

Ms. Brookins was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Carl Vinson Brookins, Sr. and the late Dorothy Mae Brantley Brookins.  She was a teller for Geo. D. Warthen Bank for over sixteen years.

Survivors are her daughter, Tonya Hodges and her husband Ricky of Sandersville; sons, Troy C. Morris and his wife Casey of Marietta and Trent Morris and his wife Amy of Dublin; grandchildren, Nathan Hodges, Ryan Hodges, Kirstin Morris, Shawn Morris and Ryker Morris; sisters, Sheila Bridges and her husband Glen , Faye Robson both of Sandersville; brothers, C. V. Brookins and his wife Florence and Ronald Brookins both of Sandersville.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday.
