Mary Alford Clark

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Alford Clark, age 86, of 714 Screven Street in Louisville died Tuesday morning July 28 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 30 in the First Baptist Church of Louisville with burial in the Louisville Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Montgomery and Dr. Don Samples will officiate. Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Mrs. Clark was a native and life long resident of Jefferson County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Charles Thomas Alford and the late Alice Elizabeth Smith Alford. She was the wife of the late Homer Enoch Clark, Sr. and the mother of the late Charles Michael Clark. Mrs. Clark was a store manager and a retired sales person with Perlings Department Store in Louisville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Louisville, a former Sunday school teacher at Old Bethel Baptist Church and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was a member of the Fedilis Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Clark was an avid gardener.

Survivors are her children, Alice (Bill) Pinkerton of Augusta, Homer E. (Susan) Clark, Jr. of Louisville, Barbara (Mike) Cofer of Louisville and Susan (Matt) Verdery of Augusta, three sisters, Grace Burch of Midville, Gladys Morris of Greensboro and Anola Wildes of Augusta, eight grandchildren, Chris Pinkerton, Kimberly Morse, Bryan Cofer, Ellen Cofer, Jennifer Hadden, Charles Michael Clark, Jr., Stephanie Verdery and Sarah Verdery, eight great grandchildren, Katherine Pinkerton, Allison Pinkerton, Alexis Morse, Charles Michael Clark III, Luke Clark, Cameron Clark, Blake Clark and Zachary Cofer.

The family suggests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Louisville, 101 East Ninth Street, Louisville, Georgia, 30434.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home, 1119 Riddleville Road in Sandersville from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Wednesday.
