Mary Yates Coleman

Mrs. Mary Yates Coleman, age 72, of Mt. Gilead Rd. in Tennille, died Friday, September 11, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14th at 3:00pm at the First Church of the Nazarene with burial in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Rev. Jim Dunn, Rev. J. Emory Lindsey, Rev. Lamar Brantley and Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Randolph Yates, Robert Yates Jr., Joe Coleman, Harley Morris, Jay Garrett, Matt Daniel, Horace Yates Jr., Thomas Avant and Travis Yates.

Mr. Coleman was born in Washington County the daughter of the late Horace G. Yates and the late Bessie Carey Yates. She was a former longtime employee of Royal Manufacturing Company as well as a former employee of the Maxway Department store. Mrs Yates also served as a Pink Lady Volunteer at the Washington County Regional Medical Center as well as working as a nurse’s aid at the Extended Care Facility. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she was a member of the Christian Workers Sunday School Class and the church senior group. Mrs. Coleman also attended the Prime Timers at the Good Sheppard Church of the Nazarene. She is predeceased by her husband Morris William Coleman.

Survivors are her son, Ricky Coleman (Ann) of Tennille, a grandson Allen Coleman (April), sisters, Lucille Morris of Tennille, Margaret Edinfield of Sandersville and Glenda Anderson (Danny) of Tennille, and brothers, Arthur Yates (Sandra) of Davisboro and Wallace Yates (Judy) of Mt. Airy.

The family will be at the residence of Lucille Morris Hwy. 15 South Tennille and will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 6 pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.

Donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund P.O. Box 801, Sandersville, GA. 31082.
