Mrs. Mary Smith Eddins, age 85, of Jordan Mill Road, Sandersville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, August 20th at 2:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends also on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
Mrs. Eddins was born and reared in Washington County, the daughter of the late William Hovey Smith and the late Frances Ward Smith. She graduated from Sandersville High School and attended Georgia Southern College where she obtained an associate degree and met her husband, Charles. Together they moved to Decatur where she became a homemaker and raised her family. Later in life, Mary began a career in retail sales and retired from Macy's Department Stores. She and Charles retired to Washington County where they were active members of Sisters Baptist Church. Mary loved reading, crocheting, and cooking for family and friends. She was an avid gardener working with flowers in her greenhouse and yards. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles B. Eddis III.
Survivors include her children, Marsha Eddins of Covington, Linda Simons and her husband Roy of Daytona Florida, and Charles W. Eddins and his wife Susan of Statham; grandchildren, Brandy Kepelka and her husband Chris, Stephanie Simons, Shea Sulman and her husband Alec and Sam Wallace; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and brother, Hovey Smith of Sandersville.
