Mrs. Mary Lee Gailbreath Rogers, age 91, of Macon and Sandersville passed away on Saturday, August 5th following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 8th, at 11:00 AM at May & Smith Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends following the service. The service will be led by Mrs. Rogers pastor, Will Johnson. Pallbearers will be Mike Rogers, Mack Rogers, Will Lord, Ben Doolittle, and Shane Lord.


Mrs. Rogers was born April 23, 1932, in Middle Tennessee. She married the late Mack Irwin Rogers in 1957. Mary Lee devoted her marriage to being a mother to three beautiful children while being a faithful military wife for twenty-three years. She received her master’s degree in business administration from Georgia College. She spent her years in various occupations including teaching and administration until finally serving as Administrative Assistant at Macon City Council for over 15 years. Mrs. Rogers was a part of the Fort Hawkins Commission and a long-time elder of First Christian Church of Macon. She was a past Grand Matron of the Peach, Gray, and Lizella chapters of Eastern Star. She found much joy in serving in any way possible, looking after her family, spending the day at the golf course, baking in her kitchen, and spending time in her garden.


Mrs. Rogers is survived by her beloved children, Virginia Lord and her husband Shane Lord of Sandersville, George Rogers and his wife Teresa Rogers of Sandersville, and Mary Wynne Rogers of Macon. She is survived by her dearing grandchildren, Anna Grace Lord Doolittle and her husband Ben, Will Lord, Mike Rogers and his wife Bekki, and Mack Rogers and his wife Sarah Jean. She is also survived by her three great grandchildren, Coraline Rogers, Everlee Rogers, and Thalia Rogers.


The family will receive friends at the Lord residence, 7190 Linton Road, Sandersville, Georgia on Monday, August 7th, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. The family suggests donations to be made to First Christian Church of Macon, 2306 Vineville Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204 in honor of Mrs. Mary Lee Rogers.
