Mary Kennedy Mathis

Mrs. Mary Kennedy Mathis, age 88, of 119 Chandler Street in Tennille, died Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00pm in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Rev. Paul Melton will officiate.

Mrs. Mathis was born in Washington County the daughter of the late Joe Harris Kennedy and the late Sally Morris Kennedy. She was retired from Royal Manufacturing Company as a supervisor and she was a member of the Ohoopee Baptist Church. Mrs. Mathis was an avid gardener receiving numerous “Beauty Spot” awards at her home. She is predeceased by her husband Hubert Dorsey Mathis.

Survivors are her sons, Colin Dorsey Mathis (Patricia) of McIntyre, and Anthony Hubert Mathis (Judy) of Tennille, her daughter Mary Grace Oliver (Brinson) of Rainesville AL., her brother, William Kennedy of Macon, grandchildren, Regina Banger (Jay) and Kevin Mathis (Vicki) and four great grandchildren, Jordan Banger, Joel Banger, Tori Mathis, and Sarabeth Mathis.

The family will be at the home of Anthony and Judy Mathis on Phillips Rd. in Tennille and will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
