Mrs. Mary Boatright Mills, age 90, of Vidalia formerly of Sandersville, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Meadows Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17th at 2:00pm at the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Elder Joe Nettles and Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Chuck Byrne, Michael Byrne, Jimmy Boatright, Jerry Sheppard, Emmitt Hall, Glenn Waller, Billy Brantley, and Lynn Brantley.
Mrs. Mills was born in Washington County the daughter of the late James Hall Boatright Sr., and the late Pearl Wommack Boatright. For over 45 years, Mrs. Mills was the owner and operator of the Ideal Beauty Shop in Sandersville. She was the oldest living member of the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church at the time of her death being a member for over 67 years. Mrs. Mills was a charter and emeritus member of the Washington County Pilot Club. She is predeceased by her husband Jesse Edward Mills.
Survivors are her sons Edward Dean Mills (Judy) of Vidalia and David Marcus Mills (Linda) of Tempe Arizona, grandchildren, Eddie Mills (Renee) of Tallahassee Florida, Jennifer M. Stephens (Lee) of Vidalia, Brian Mills (Charlee) of Las Vegas Nevada, and Cindy M. Price (Gareth) of Houston Texas, great grandchildren, Amy Mills, Kelly Mills, Jesse Stephens, Emma Stephens, Anna Stephens and Dylan Price, her brother Buford Oliver Boatright of Pompano Beach Florida and her sister Helen Byrne of Tennille.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Directors, 1119 Riddleville Road, Sandersville.
