Mary Pearce Andrews

Mrs. Mary Pearce Andrews, age 95, of Deepstep died Saturday morning, April 27, 2013, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 30th, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Harris and Rev. Larry Giles will officiate. Pallbearers will be Travis Andrews, J. D. Carpenter, Darrell Lanier, Andy Pearce, Mike Abbott, Chris Palmer, Brandon Lindsey and Ric Aikman. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Veal, Felson Bowman, Jimmy Andrews, Larry Avant, Leonard Hart and David Lanthrip.

Mrs. Andrews was a native of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Charles Allen Pearce and the late Elizabeth Templin Pearce. She was the wife of the late Andrew Felson Andrews. Mrs. Andrews was a retired seamstress with the J. P. Stephens Company and a former employee of Royal Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church and a former church secretary.

Survivors are: her children, Pearce Nathan “Shorty” Andrews and his wife Joyce of Conyers, Phyllis Andrews Carpenter and her husband John David of Deepstep, Uldena Andrews Denton and her husband Al of Deepstep, Allen Lee Andrews and his wife Kyla of Deepstep; eleven grandchildren, Allison Andrews, John David Carpenter, Candis C. Lanier, Andrea D. Aikman, DeAnne D. Lindsey, Travis Andrews, Christy A. Abbott, Jeannie A. Prosser, Tiffany A. Palmer, Cale Veal and Shauna Johnson; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

The family suggests donations be made to the Smyrna Baptist Church and designate it to the “Trees of Hope Sawmill Ministry”, in care of Deborah Bassaloff, 106 Veal Road, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.

The family will receive friends at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday until the hour of service.

May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
