Mrs. Mary Jackson Smith, age 94, of Savannah, formerly of Harrison, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in a Savannah hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 19 th , in the May and Smith. Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Harrison Cemetery. The Reverend Roy Smith will officiate. Pallbearers will be Zachary Smith, Frazier Smith, Jim Hall, Joe Hall, James Raines, Joe Raines and Phillip Waller.
Mrs. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Butler Jackson and the late Mattie Bedingfield Jackson. She was the wife of the late Ray Elwood Smith, Sr. Mrs. Smith was a retired Vice President of the Bank of Wrightsville with over forty years of service and she a homemaker. She was a member of the Harrison Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer for many years.
Survivors are her son, Ray Elwood Smith, Jr. and his wife Susan of Savannah; two grandsons, Zachary Smith and Frazier Smith of Savannah; a brother, Howard Jackson of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 1:00 P.M. on Saturday until the hour of service.
