Mrs. Boatright was born in Sandersville, one of 12 children to the late William Dudley Smith and the late Frances Theresa Zagar Smith. She dedicated over 43 years working as a nurse for Washington County Regional Medical Center. She was a picture of true southern hospitality, making sure that any and everyone who came to her house was fed, even the mail carriers. Mrs. Boatright enjoyed camping, cooking, sewing, and tending her flowers, but her greatest joy in life was taking care of her three boys, whom she fed lunch every day, even as adults. She also treasured being able to take care of her grandchildren. Mrs. Boatright provided a home for many stray cats and dogs and made sure they too had enough to eat. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mack Alan Boatright, Sr.; brothers, Charles Smith and Jule Smith; and sister, Shirley Landry.
Mrs. Boatright is survived by her sons, Jason Boatright and his wife Rachel, Mack Alan Boatright, Jr. and his wife Iries, and Christopher Michael Boatright, all of Tennille; grandchildren, Hannah Garner and her husband Landon, Will Durden and his wife Lily, Alyssa Boatright, Ryan Boatright, and Ethan Asher Boatright; brothers, William Smith, Christopher Smith, Larry Smith, and Michael Smith; sisters, Nora Rachels, Angie Easterly, Mabel Jenkins, and Schynell Bragg; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family will be at the home of Jason and Rachel Boatright in Tennille.
The family suggests donations be made in Mrs. Boatright’s memory to the Washington County Animal Shelter, 430 Beck Blvd., Sandersville, GA 31082.
