Mrs. Mary Frances Sumner Marshall, age 89, of Tennille, died Thursday December 30, 2010 at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jimmy Harris and Rev. Jeff Cook will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Garner Jr., John Robert Marshall, Joseph Sumner Jr., Marvin Sumner, Clint Durden, Shane Hart and Edward Barlow.
Mrs. Marshall was born in Wheeler County the daughter of the late Joseph Haygood Sumner and the late Lillie Lee Hood Sumner. She was a homemaker and a member of the Tennille United Methodist Church. Mrs. Marshall is predeceased by her husband A.H. Marshall.
Survivors are; her Children, Mary Garner (John Sr.) of Warthen, Norman Marshall of Tennille and Robert Marshall (Janet) of Sandersville, a brother, Joseph R. Sumner of Dublin, grandsons, John Garner Jr., (Cindi) of Tennille, John Robert Marshall and David Marshall both of Sandersville, granddaughters, Dawn Durden (Clint) of Warthen and Missy Hart (Shane) of Deepstep and great grandchildren, Chase Durden, Natalie Durden, Carly Hart and Haley Hart.
The family will be at the Garner residence 10728 Hwy. 15 North in Warthen and will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
