Mary T Tooke

Mrs. Mary Tipton Tooke, age 88 of Deepstep, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of May and Smith Funeral Home with burial following in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend L.T. Logue and Reverend Glenn Pulliam will officiate, and pallbearers will be Nile Lucas, Cody Lucas, Brandon Odom, Sean Blankenbiller, Michael Hall, and Jason Prince. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tooke was born in Farner Tennessee, the daughter of the late Edgar William Tipton, and the late Mattie Lee McKinsey Tipton. She and her late husband, William Veron Tooke, Jr. owned and operated Sandersville Well company, where she served as office administrator. Mrs. Tooke was a very caring and charitable person whose faith was central to all that she did. She was a devoted member of Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, helped with VBS, sang in the choir, and also did missions work in Louisiana and Mississippi following hurricane Katrina. Mrs. Tooke and her late husband were also very invested in the mission of The Gideons. She enjoyed crocheting and traveling. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Janie Tipton, Martha Kellam, Mattie Atkinson, and Beatrice Cook.

Mrs. Tooke is survived by her children, Randy Tipton (Lavonne) of Ackworth, Brenda Canup of Smyrna, and Shannon Pulliam (Vic) of Deepstep; stepdaughter, Vicki Odom of Florida; grandchildren, Kenneth Tipton, Catrina Smith, Nile Lucas, Cody Lucas, Kristen Langston, Brandon Odom, Tori Pulliam, and Makayla Pulliam; great grandchildren, Soren Lucas, William Tipton, Brandon Tipton, Victoria Tipton, Carlee Jenkins, Caelynn Jenkins, and S.J. Blankenbiller; and great-great grandchildren, Cole Langston and Zayden Tipton.

The family suggests donations be made in Mrs. Tooke’s memory to The Gideons, Sandersville Camp, P.O. Box 891, Sandersville, GA 31082.
