Ms. Mary Alligood Williams, age 63 of Sandersville, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, following a brief illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Tennille with burial to follow at White Oak Church Cemetery. Reverend Lamar Brantley will officiate. Pallbearers will be, Al Alligood, Jeff Alligood, A.J. Alligood, Scott Wilkes, Tony Williams, David Williams, Andrew Williams, and Derek Boatright.
Ms. Williams was born June 15, 1958, in Sandersville, the daughter of the late Alton J. Alligood and the late Nadine Elton Alligood. She spent most of her working career at the Sandersville Walmart where she retired as an assistant manager. Following retirement, Ms. Williams worked in school nutrition for the Washington County Board of Education until she retired from that position as well. She was a woman of faith, who possessed a pure heart and an ability to show love to all she met. Ms. Williams enjoyed shopping for a bargain, taking trips to the mountains, and cooking for those she loved. She found her greatest pleasure in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Ms. Williams was a member of Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene and spent many years serving with the Davisboro Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, David W. Alligood.
Ms. Williams is survived by her daughter, Denise W. Josey (Ron) of Irmo, South Carolina; son, Travis A. Williams (Toni) of Davisboro; Grandchildren, Jillian Josey, Nathan Josey, Rylan Josey, Jolene Williams, Alexis Williams, Natalie Williams, and Nicole Williams; siblings, Al Alligood of Davisboro, Jean Alligood Wilkes (Scott) of East Dublin, and Jeff Alligood (Kay) of Sandersville; beloved fur baby, Izzie; and many beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home on Monday, March 28, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
