McBride Wyman Hodges, age 85,  was born on October 17, 1938 and passed from this life on April 2, 2024. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church of Sandersville. Wyman’s family will receive friends and family after the service.

Son of the late Marshall Wyman Hodges and the late Mary McBride Hodges, Wyman was a lifelong resident of Washington County, native to Oconee, but lived the majority of his life in Sandersville. He graduated from Tennille High School then continued his education at Georgia Institute of Technology. Upon returning to Sandersville, Wyman worked at Cecil Hodges Lumber Company, Sandersville Railroad, Dorman Dodge and Washington County Machine Shop over his lifetime. He proudly served his community as Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 74 for over 18 years and earned the highest honor in scouting, the Order of the Arrow and the Prestigious Silver Beaver, awarded for exceptional character. Wyman’s life exemplified his love for God and others in the way he lived his life. He was passionate about his love for God, serving as lay minister for several churches, as Bible teacher, Deacon and Elder for Tennille Christian Church and for First Christian Church of Sandersville. Wyman lived out love for others in the way he served and interacted with all people. He established and operated the Kountry Kupboard General Store to serve the community of Oconee that he loved. He served at the Bread of Life Mission Store and Meals on Wheels, shared kindness, humor and encouragement with everyone with whom his life crossed, and always left people with a smile on their face. Wyman was especially committed to his family, a dedicated husband, a loving Daddy and Papa. He was a godly example, a man of strong faith, an investor in our dreams with open and caring arms and unconditional love. His legacy will never be forgotten.
