Melanie Leanne "Lea" Andrews

Melanie Leanne "Lea" Andrews of Pearson Chapel Road, Sparta, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025, at her residence.  A graveside memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Culverton Baptist Church Cemetery.  Reverend Brian Hill will officiate.  Lea's family will greet friends at the cemetery.

Lea was born and reared in Sparta, daughter of the late Ray Andrews and the late Sandra McEllhannon McGill.  She graduated from John Hancock Academy where she excelled in Basketball.  Lea attended Gordan State Junior College on a basketball scholarship.  She later obtained her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse and began a career in health care.  Lea worked as a nurse for many years at Providence Health Care and Rehab in Sparta, prior to working for Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville and finally for the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville.  She possessed a passion for animals and was involved in rescuing dogs and cats in need.  Lea loved the Christmas season and anything, Disney.  Most of all she cherished her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Brittany A. Williams and her husband Marqius of Harlem; grandchildren, Jamirion Andrews, Jaicee Andrews, Malia Williams, December Williams, and Nora Williams and her sister Lynn Andrews of Sparta.
