Mike Mccoy

Mr. Mike McCoy, age 65, of Tennille, died Thursday, August 15, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Sandersville United Methodist Church with burial in the McCoy Family Cemetery on South Sparta-Davisboro Rd. in Davisboro. Reverend Ron Dixon and Reverend Marlon Lastinger will officiate. Pallbearers will be Cale Veal, Daniel Veal, Zachery Veal, Greg Johnson, A.J. Pryor and Chris McCoy. Washington EMC board members, employees and affiliates will sit as a Honorary Group.

Mike was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County the son of the late George Scott McCoy, Sr. and the late Edith Moye McCoy. He was a 1965 graduate of Washington County High School and a member of the Davisboro United Methodist Church. Mike was the former owner/operator of Mike McCoy Hauling, Inc. He was currently the co-owner of Trucktech, LLC and D.T.S. Trucking Company as well as a partner in McKessma Farms. Mike served as a director for the Washington EMC for forty years, serving as cooperative Secretary-Treasurer 1996 to 2007 and as Chairman from 2007 until his death. He also served as a director on the Board of Georgia Systems Operations and as an Oglethorpe Power Corporation member representative. He is predeceased by his brother Arthur Eugene McCoy.

Survivors are his wife, Katye Veal McCoy of Tennille; a daughter, Jennifer McCoy Thompson and future son-in-law, Lance Johnson of Perry, a brother, Scotty McCoy and his wife Pendery of Sandersville, and a sister, Kathy M. Gibbs and her husband Joby of Alto.

The family will be at the McCoy residence on Holmes-Cannery Road in Tennille and they will receive friends on Saturday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
