Mrs. Mildred Weeks Davis, age 92, of Davis Road, Davisboro, died Monday, October 08, 2012, at the Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October the 10that the New Hope United Methodist Church near Davisboro with burial in the Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Dixon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jim Claxton, Eric Eastmead, Bobby Weeks, Billy Anderson, Ray Jacobs, Chris Jeselnik, Jordy Williamson, and Bruce Weeks.
Mrs. Davis was born in Burke County the daughter of the late John Bruce Weeks and the late Mable Davis Weeks; and the wife of the late E.R. “Red” Davis. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the New Hope United Methodist Church. Mrs. Davis had a lifelong love of crocheting afghans and sharing them with those whom she loved. She is predeceased by her grandson, Terry Wayde Brown and brothers, Gerald Weeks and Billy Weeks.
Survivors are: her daughters, Raydene Davis Brown of Aiken, SC, and Carol Davis (Ed) Darsey of Hawkinsville; granddaughter, Julie Rebecca (Mike) Griffin of Aiken, SC; great- grandsons, James Michael Ray Friday of Rock Hill, SC and Jackson Davis Wayde Friday of Aiken, SC; and her brother, Lucian A. (Beth) Weeks of Wadley.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 10:00am to 11:00am prior to the funeral service at the church and also after the committal service in the social hall of the church.
