Mildred Chapman Wright

Mrs. Mildred Chapman Wright, age 92 of Sandersville passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Washington County Regional Medical Center. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 2:00p.m. at Sister’s Baptist Church with burial to follow in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Jason Loggins will officiate.

Mrs. Wright was born in the community of Jewel in Hancock County to the late John Sterling Chapman and the late Ruth C. Chapman. She was married for 53 years to the late Clifford Carter “C.C.” Wright. Mrs. Wright was a beautician by trade and continued her relationship with her clients long after her retirement. She was a true southern woman and a product of her generation, able to bend, but not easily broken. Mrs. Wright loved growing flowers and other plants and she found much enjoyment from being able to see a plant take root and grow. She was an amazing cook, and her home canned pickles were truly a delicious treat. Faith was extremely important to Mrs. Wright and she was a long-time member of Sister’s Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wright is preceded in death by her sisters, Kathleen C. Fields and Mary C. Bryant.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her sons, James S. Wright and his wife Lynn of Macon, Richard C. Wright of Hiawassee, Paul W. Wright and his wife Melanie of Fort Worth, TX, and Andrew J. Wright of Griffin; grandchildren, Leslie W. Lowtwait, J. Cory Wright, Lindsey Wright, Ryan Wright, Mindy Moore, Robert Moore, Peter Wright, Susan Wright, and Luke Wright; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
