Mrs. Mollie Melinda Ivey Knight, age 90, of Dothan, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Washington County Extended Care Facility in Sandersville, Georgia following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 11th, at 3:00 p.m. at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan, Al. with burial in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery also in Dothan. The Reverend Freddie McCain and the Reverend Sam McAliley will officiate. Pall bearers will be Dickie Harper, Steve Adams, Terry Parrish, Wendell Parrish, Jason Lindsey and Mathan Lindsey

Mollie was born September 27, 1926, in Galilee Community of Graceville, Florida, the daughter of the late Willis Ivey and the late Minnie Williams Ivey. She graduated from Graceville High School in April, 1944. She worked as a clerk with the Dothan Eagle in Dothan, Alabama. After the birth of her son, Mollie changed career paths, entering the medical field as a medical records clerk at Moody Hospital in Dothan. She moved on to serve as Receptionist/bookkeeper/secretary for Dr. Press Thornton, Jr. and Dr. Ronald Brown until she retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Minnie Ivey, her husband of 46 years, Cofield Knight, and by seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Martha Bowen McKnight of Chipley, Fla.; two brothers, Julian D. Ivey and his wife Pat of Covington, Ky., and William "Boo" Ivey and his wife Barbara of Pensacola, Fla.; one son, Jerry C. Knight and his wife Mary of Tennille, Ga.; one grandson, Scott Knight and his wife Holly of Tennille, Ga.; one granddaughter, Scarlett Lindsey and her husband Jason of Tennille, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Mathan Lindsey, Meriel Lindsey, Aiden Knight and Abigail Knight all of Tennille, Ga. and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
