Neale Gareth Traugh

Mr. Neale Gareth Traugh, age 78, of Sandersville, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Rosemont Nursing Home in Stone Mountain. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24th at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. Rev. Dale Andrews will officiate. Pallbearers will be Wallace Hall, Michael Brown, Johnathan Hall, Mike McDonald, Terry Torez, Eddie Moye, Jimmy Childre Jr., and Thomas Smith.

Mr. Traugh was born in Berwick, PA., the son of the late Carl Traugh and the late Geneva Schott Baughman. He graduated from Berwick High School in 1951 and from Bob Jones University in Greenville SC., in 1956. Neale worked as a director, producer and editor in the film industry for the Department of the Army in Huntsville, AL., from 1960 to 1980. He then accepted a position with the Panama Canal Commission as an audio visual specialist from 1980 to 1985. Completing his time in Panama, he returned to the US working for the Department of the Army in Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. He retired to Sandersville in 1995 where he was active in his community working as a newspaper columnist with the Sandersville Progress. Neale was a member of the First Christian Church of Sandersville and a former member of the Sandersville Rotary Club.

Survivors are; his wife Emolene Ennis Traugh of Sandersville, daughters, Elizabeth T. Brown and her husband Michael of Buford, and Diana T. Hall and her husband Wallace of Bonneau, SC., one grandson, Alexander Neale Brown of Buford, his sister Rev. (Ret.) Mary Lou Hall and her husband Rev. (Ret.) Claude B. Hall of Bedford PA.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 am to 12 noon at the funeral home.
