Nell Pool Young

Mrs. Nell Pool Young, age 100, of Sessions Road in Tennille died Saturday, March 14th, 2015, in the Washington County Extended Care Facility following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 16th, at Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church near Tennille, with burial in the church cemetery. Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bobby Young, Brian Young, Jon Young, Chris Young, Michael Young, Nathan Nipper, Hunter Yaughn, and Jacob Pool.

Mrs. Young was a native of Johnson County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Harvey Pool and the late Carrie Frost Pool. She was the wife of the late Joe Newman Young. She was a graduate of the Wrightsville High School and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Georgia State College for Women. She was a retired school teacher. Mrs. Young was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church and faithful friend of the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church where she attended for over 70 years.

Survivors are her sons: Charles Pool Young and his wife Sandra of Tennille, Joe Russell Young and his wife Yong Sun of Eatonton, and Emory Howard Young and his wife Sherry of Tennille; her eight grandchildren, Leslie Michelle Bassett, Andrea Leigh Yaughn, Audrey Dawn Nipper, Michael Allen Young, Robert Gary Young, Patrick Brian Young, Jonathan William Young and Christopher Joseph Young, her eight great-grandchildren, Samuel Hunter Yaughn, Emily Katherine Nipper, Natalie Grace Nipper, Melanie Dawn Nipper, Noah Michael Young, Lindsey Marie Young, Finley Jane Young and Pierce Joseph Young, a sister-in-law, Helen Pool of Warner Robins; and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests donations be made to the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church, 154 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Tennille, Georgia 31089.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:30 until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 15th.
