Nelle Hooks Jackson

Mrs. Nelle Hooks Jackson, age 94, formerly of East McCarty Street in Sandersville, died Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Washington County Extended Care Facility following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 15 ^th at 11:00 a.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Brownwood Cemetery.  Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Roy Smith will officiate.  Pallbearers will Randy Jackson, Josh Jackson, Mark Snider, Joe Hooks, Joey Shurling and Charlie Durden.

Mrs. Jackson was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Winifred Hooks and Olivia Turner Hooks. She was a homemaker and a member of Sisters Baptist Church where she participated in the Women’s Missionary Union.  Mrs. Jackson was also a member and formerly involved with Woodmen of the World.  She is predeceased by her husband, Johnnie Benion “J.B.” Jackson.

Survivors include her children, Tammy J. Durden and her husband Bill and Tony Wayne Jackson all of Sandersville; grandson, Charles Allen Durden and his wife Sarah of Fairmount; and great granddaughter, Lilly Claire Durden.

The family will be at the Durden residence on North Lake Drive and they will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
