Nellie Meeks Wommack

Mrs. Nellie Meeks Wommack, age 95, of 397 Oscar Drive in Sandersville, died on Sunday, August 3rd, at the Extended Care Facility in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 6th, in the Piney Mount United Methodist Church. Reverend Bob Williams and Reverend Robert Wood will officiate with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Pulliam, Lyn Leverett, Brad Garner, Josh Garner, Gerald Lord and Jimmy Prince.

Mrs. Wommack was a native of Treutlen County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Willie Robert (Algie) Meeks and the late Grace Hartley Meeks. She was the wife of the late Joseph Oscar Wommack. Mrs. Wommack was a 1936 graduate of Harrison High School. She was a homemaker and a former owner of the Wommack Grocery Store. Mrs. Wommack was a member of the Piney Mount United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Piney Mount Homemakers Club.

Survivors are her two daughters, Jo Ann Wommack Garner and her husband Clarence of Sandersville and Dorothy Wommack David of Sandersville; five grandchildren, Charles David and his wife Ammie, Ken Garner and his wife Candi, Jeffrey Garner and his wife Jennifer, Eric Garner and his wife Melissa and Joseph Garner and his wife Ammie; ten great-grandchildren, Hannah David, Mary Grace David, Josh Garner and his wife McCall, Landon Garner, Brad Garner, Mabrey Garner, Deric Garner, Ian Garner, Cameron Hughes and Jordan Garner; a sister, Hazel Watford of Loganville; two brothers, Robert Meeks and his wife Lynette of Warner Robins and Randall Meeks and his wife Diane of Sandersville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.

The family suggests donations be made to the Piney Mount United Methodist Church, c/o Diane Meeks, P. O. Box 1061, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
